POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of quality across our heavy equipment assembly, welding, and powder coating processes. This position is responsible for devising, developing, implementing, and maintaining robust quality processes and procedures to prevent defects, improve product reliability, and enhance customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing quality, with a focus on heavy equipment, and a proven ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Your day-to-day tasks will include demonstrating equipment performance, ensuring safe transportation of machinery, and maintaining high standards of customer service during product demonstrations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Process Development & Improvement:
- Devise, develop, implement, and continuously improve quality processes, procedures, and documentation (e.g., control plans, FMEAs, work instructions) for heavy equipment assembly, welding, and powder coating operations.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to integrate quality requirements into all stages of the product lifecycle.
- Identify and implement best practices in quality engineering to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
Quality Assurance & Control:
- Conduct regular audits of manufacturing processes to ensure adherence to quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and monitor key quality metrics (KPIs) and performance indicators to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities for internal and external quality issues.
- Develop and implement incoming, in-process, and final inspection plans and criteria.
Supplier Quality:
- Collaborate with the supply chain team to assess and qualify new suppliers, focusing on components related to heavy equipment manufacturing.
- Monitor supplier quality performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
Training & Mentorship:
- Provide training and guidance to production personnel on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Promote a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and detailed quality records, reports, and databases.
- Prepare and present quality performance reports to management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related field).
- 3+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience in heavy equipment assembly is preferred.
- Strong understanding and experience with welding processes (e.g., MIG, TIG, Robotic Welding) and associated quality requirements preferred.
- Experience with powder coating processes, including surface preparation and quality control, is preferred.
- Proven ability to devise and develop comprehensive quality processes and procedures from concept to implementation.
- Proficiency in quality methodologies and tools (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, 8D, 5 Whys, FMEA, SPC).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
